Students celebrated in Liverpool secondary Dot Art competition
20 Year 9 DFA students entered into the prestigious Liverpool Secondary Dot Art competition, and we are pleased to announce that Arathi has won first place for DFA and is now a Finalist with all other secondary schools across Liverpool.
Devika gained second place and Isabella third place. All 3 students have produced their pieces in Art Club/their own time and as you can see from the attached image have produced fantastic individual and creative responses.
dot-art Schools is an interactive, online, inter-school, art competition, taking place annually and culminating in a public exhibition of the winning artworks and prize giving celebration for teachers, students and their families. The competition is open to all Primary (Year 5) and Secondary (Year 9) and SEND schools in the six boroughs of Liverpool City Region. It is designed to nurture talent, raise aspiration and take art out of the classroom into the real world.
The work was chosen by a panel of Dot Art judges and All students, and their parents will be invited to attend a Prize Giving ceremony on Wednesday 3 June.
The prize giving ceremonies will be held in the magnificent Concert Room in St George's Hall. The ceremony will include presentations of certificates and prizes by the Lord Mayor of Liverpool to the top three shortlisted students and vote winners exhibiting from each school. Dot Art's Guest Judge, Adele Darlington will then announce the overall winner and runners up for the 14th annual dot-art Schools competition.
Following the formal presentations the students, teachers and families will be invited to view the winners’ exhibition across the road at the Walker Art Gallery. Arathi's work as first prize winner will be framed and put on display in Liverpool Walker Art Gallery from Wednesday 3 June!
You can view the artwork and names of our 20 DFA Year 9 students below. All work was produced either in after school Art club or at home.
