Row with the Rhinos - our students making waves!
Posted 27th November 2025

This week, our pupils proudly represented the school at the Row with the Rhinos Indoor Rowing Competition, held at the iconic Headingley Stadium. The event brought together Year 7, 8, and 9 students from schools across the region for a day of energy, excitement, and sporting challenge.
The event, organised by British Rowing in partnership with the Leeds Rhinos Foundation, is part of a fantastic initiative to make rowing more accessible to young people from all backgrounds. It aims to inspire a new generation of athletes by introducing them to both indoor and on-water rowing, creating opportunities that could lead all the way to national and international success.
Our pupils showed incredible determination and teamwork throughout the day, taking part in solo races to test their individual strength and stamina, as well as a thrilling team relay challenge, where they worked together to row an impressive 1,800 metres! The atmosphere was electric as each team member gave their all to keep the pace strong and the spirit high.
A special mention goes to Sydney, our top rower, who finished in an impressive 4th place, missing out on 3rd by just five metres! This was a phenomenal achievement in a highly competitive field, and we couldn’t be prouder.
Events like this are about more than just sport, they’re about resilience, confidence, and discovering new passions. For some, this may be the start of a lifelong love of rowing, and who knows, perhaps even a future Olympic journey!
We’d like to thank British Rowing and the Leeds Rhinos Foundation for creating such an inspiring event and giving our pupils the chance to shine.
