RIBA design project inspires creative futures

We are delighted to announce that Dixons Fazakerley Academy Art and Design Technology Department has been selected to take part in a free architecture and design project run by RIBA and MATT+FIONA (Specialise in Youth engagement engaging young people’s unique local knowledge, lived experience and imagination into place making). The project involves a group of 22 of our KS3 students working with architects and designers to create a large-scale installation that will eventually be exhibited at RIBA in May 2027, North Gallery before being returned to school to become a permanent display in the front entrance in November 2027.

Students began the project by attending a full day workshop at RIBA Gallery, Pier Head Liverpool interacting in hands on activities drawing and designing ideas for the sculpture inspired by Riccardo Dalisi (1932-2022) an Italian architect, designer, educator and activist who dedicated his 60-year career to making architecture accessible to ordinary people.

The students thoroughly enjoyed the visit and will now take part in 6 full day workshops in DT workshops in school with their teachers and MATT+FIONA gaining knowledge and experience of building and constructing with wood, plastics and other recycled materials.
