Liverpool City Athletics Championships

Posted 4th July 2024

This week saw Watertree Athletics Centre host the annual Liverpool City Athletics Championships. This is an important event in the PE departments’ calendar as it sees students from schools and academies from across the city compete against each other in a range of athletic events. The standard is exceptionally high and students really enjoyed the challenge of competing against the best of the city’s athletes.

Squad sizes are limited, and to just be selected to represent team DFA at the championships was a notable achievement for the students who represented our academy. They competed exceptionally well, demonstrating real determination to compete to the best of their abilities. Their conduct on both days was impeccable; they, as we are, can be very proud of their efforts on the day. We were not there to just compete though. This is a competition, and students were striving to win. It gives me great pleasure to congratulate the athletes who brought home medals in the following events:

Year 10 boys. Second in the 400M

Year 8 boys. Second in the Long Jump

Year 7 boys. Second in the High Jump

Year 7 boys. Third in the 75M Sprint

Congratulations to all involved, we are very proud of you!
