All Aboard Youth Rowing – session two update
Posted 1st December 2025

Our Year 8 and Year 9 students returned for the second session of the All Aboard Youth Rowing programme, and this week was all about refining technique and building confidence.
The focus was on the mechanics of rowing:
- Posture – learning how to maintain a strong, safe position throughout the stroke.
- Timing – understanding the rhythm that makes rowing efficient and powerful.
- Coordination – syncing movements for smooth, consistent strokes.
Students put these skills into practice with some exciting relay racing, which brought out their competitive spirit and highlighted the importance of teamwork and communication. The energy in the room was fantastic, and it was great to see everyone encouraging each other and pushing themselves to improve.
This programme continues to be an incredible opportunity for our students to develop resilience, discipline, and collaboration. Each session brings them closer to representing Team DFA at future competitions, and we couldn’t be prouder of their progress so far.
Stay tuned for more updates as we move closer to taking these skills from the rowing machines to the water!
