Sophia Kokosalakis

Vice Principal

After graduating in Three Dimensional Design – Silversmithing and Jewellery at the University of Central England (now Birmingham City University) in 1996, Sophia embarked on a career as a jewellery and fashion designer, running her own business based in the Midlands for six years.

Sophia completed her teacher training at Liverpool John Moores University in 2002 and started her DT teaching career at Fazakerley High School. In a variety of different leadership roles Sophia had responsibility for supporting students to experience university life. She worked to develop links with higher education providers to provide university experiences and pathways for students.

At Dixons Fazakerley Academy, as Vice Principal and Designated Safeguarding Lead, Sophia worked to set up the Mountain Rescue team. She works closely with the wider pastoral, attendance and SEN teams to ensure all families and students are supported to be safe. Sophia leads the Personal Development curriculum and firmly believes that personal development delivered through PDS lessons, Morning Meeting and through links in RE, PE, science and computing is fundamental to ensuring all students have a sound knowledge and understanding of how to be kind and respectful citizens. This works helps to ensure that students go on to lead a purposeful and happy life.
