Library Grand Opening

Posted 18th December 2023

On Friday 15th December, our school library was officially opened. To assist with the opening, we invited a number of special guests to help open our library. The guests consisted of: Peter Mitchell, CEO of Big Help Project national charity; Colette Goulding, Labour councillor for West Derby Muirhead ward; Harry Doyle, Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing & Culture; Jane Harvey, Public Health consultant for Liverpool. The guests were given a tour of the newly furnished library by our recently appointed student ambassadors, who spoke about the following features: the brand-new stock of books; the sophisticated booking system; the comfortable seating areas; the IT facilities; the impressive mural and 3D artwork, and the general ambience of the library. Our guests were particularly impressed with our students’ ability to articulate themselves and talk openly about their love of literature. Colette Goulding, for example, commented that our students were “brilliant, very well-mannered and very well-informed.” Harry Doyle was blown away by how “respectful” our students were. Peter Mitchell is keen to support our school in the future by offering to fund our next writing competition, pledging £225 towards the top 3 prizes. Thanks to the hard work of our staff and students, the library opening was a big success, and as we continue with our mission to help foster a love of literature for all of our students, the library will increasingly become a central part of our school culture.
