Indoor Rowing Competition

The event on Thursday 10 February was an indoor rowing competition at Birchwood Leisure Centre, Warrington.

All of our year 8 team took part in individual races and then formed 2 teams of 4 for a girls 2km relay and a boys 2km relay. Our Academy students did us, and themselves, proud with two students finishing in the top 5. The boys relay placed 8^th out of 21 and the girls relay 15^th out of 20.

All students showed our value of determination by never giving up even though this was a tough challenge. They have pushed themselves out of their comfort zone and have built friendships on the team that are continuing in academy life.

The team started rowing in October 2021, our newest member joined only the day before the competition. Each week they work on their technique as well as competing in races and relays against each other. From next week, weather permitting, the team will be training on the water in preparation for the Water Competition in the summer. Watch this space for more news.
